PRACTICAL SUPPORT FOR EVERYDAY LIFE
Our Occupational Therapists (OTs) will provide Knowledge and Support within your day to day lives so you and/or your family is able to participate in the occupations that you need and want to. OTs define occupations as anything that occupies your time, so anything you do throughout the day or night is considered an occupation. Our OTs will help you identify challenges and help create a way forward to overcome them. This could include facing your fears, increasing self-awareness for self regulation, adapting how a task is done or building the physical abilities all within activities that are meaningful to you. Our OTs are trained to look at your health and wellbeing from a holistic lens as well as looking at the impact of your function is on your daily life.
Occupational Therapists (OTs) can help you navigate life after life changes, health challenges, and injuries. Together we will find practical ways to help you do more of what matters to you.
Ways an Occupational Therapist can assist
1. Managing anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges
We can work together to reduce overwhelm, identify activities that are most difficult and explore what makes them challenging, break larger tasks into smaller steps, and work towards establishing a manageable weekly schedule.
2. Returning to work after an illness or injury
An OT can complete a functional assessment to determine how your illness or injury impacts your ability to return to work. Once we determine the barriers (ie decreased concentration, fatigue, stress management, pain, mental health challenges), we can work together to develop a graded return to work plan.
3. Recovering from concussion or managing chronic pain
An OT can help identify how symptoms affect daily functioning and develop practical strategies to support recovery and participation in the activities that mean the most to you.
4. Adapting to changes in health, function, or independence
When life circumstances change, everyday activities can become more challenging. An OT can help you find easier ways to manage everyday activities and explore adaptations that help you to continue to live an independent and meaningful life.
